The Museum contains an extensive collection of objects with Masonic decoration including pottery and porcelain, glassware, silver, furniture and clocks, jewels and regalia. Items belonging to famous and Royal Freemasons including Winston Churchill and Edward VII are on display together with examples from the Museum's extensive collection of prints and engravings, photographs and ephemera. There is also a large collection of items relating to non-Masonic fraternal societies such as the Oddfellows and the Sons of the Phoenix.

The Library is open for reference use. It contains a comprehensive collection of printed books and manuscripts on every facet of Freemasonry in England as well as material on Freemasonry elsewhere in the world and on subjects associated with Freemasonry or with mystical and esoteric traditions. The collections include Masonic music, poetry and literature. There are a number of notable examples of fine eighteenth and nineteenth century bindings.

Admission to the Library and Museum is free of charge. It is located on the first floor of Freemasons' Hall, there are lifts available which are suitable for most wheelchairs. A number of power sockets for laptop computers are available. A staffed photocopying service and photographic service is provided. About MQ Magazine

This is a magazine site that was designed to be fast-loading and easy to read. It has a full library of back-issues available free and without requiring registration. Created by Cyberpoint and client maintained.

MQ is short for Masonic Quarterly - the official magazine of the United Grand Lodge of England. It is a lifestyle magazine, that reports and comments on the changing face of Freemasonry in the 21st century. As such, it is dynamic, modern and exciting, and carries a large number of non-Masonic articles, reflecting the wide interests of the 320,000 readers of the magazine.

MQ is not just for masons, however - it is also for their families, friends, neighbours, acquaintances and anyone with broad-based interests. I hope that copies of the magazine will soon be in libraries, doctors' surgeries and in many other places where communities gather. MQ - indeed its very concept - is sending a clear message that Freemasonry is vibrant. Its launch is a radical initiative by the governing body of English Freemasons - Grand Lodge - to show a more open face to the world. The magazine has been sent direct to the homes of all Masons under the United Grand Lodge of England, and replaces the old Grand Lodge Newsletter, whose contents are now included in MQ.

Freemasonry has long needed a medium to demonstrate its openness to the world. Now it has one. MQ aims to show the world that Freemasons are proud of their fraternity and that they have a positive story to tell. In each issue, the four Masonic charities will each have a voice - these are the Grand Charity, the New Masonic Samaritan fund, the Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys, and the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution. Through the charitable activities of these groups the world will be able to see the real face of Freemasonry at work - not the nonsense that is the stereotypical media view of the Craft.

As Freemasons we are proud of our history, of our traditional ceremonies and our charities. We are part of our local communities, many Lodges and Masonic Halls dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Grand Lodge has given the Craft as a whole a positive lead. It is for all Masons to run with the torch they have lit. MQ will be in the forefront of publicity displaying the new face of English Freemasonry.

About Freemasonry Today

The FMT site is perhaps the largest and most complex of our Masonic sites. With several hundred pages, it has an on-line subscription service for access to back-issues of the magazine, and has many other features such as a blog. Created and maintained by Cyberpoint.

Freemasonry Today is a unique magazine fulfilling a unique need: it is an independent Masonic magazine edited by Freemasons to inform all about our ancient Craft and its central aspiration best expressed as, "Man, know thyself." Freemasonry Today celebrates both the rich heritage we carry into the future and the world-wide Brotherhood we represent.

Younger generations, seeking spirituality without the dogma and the distinctions are beginning to discover Freemasonry's virtues and we at Freemasonry Today feel that it is right that the world beyond the Masonic Temple should know of our Craft and all that it truly stands for: for Freemasonry focuses upon those things which bring men together in harmony, not those things which drive men apart in conflict.
